The main objectives, benefits for the Conference and Workshop attendees and who should attend?

IST4Balt Conference "Evolving Mobile Europe" and Workshop „Participation in IST at the edge of 6th and 7th Framework Programmes” target multi-profile audience in Baltic States and especially in Lithuania. First of all it concerns local SME’s willing to participate in FP6/7 or engaged in R&D and innovation development in the field of information and communication technologies. Participation of academia and R&D communities already become the tradition during 15 years history of annual Infobalt event. In 2005 conference and workshop underlines importance of participation of various bodies of public and commercial origin from other EU countries and institutions related to R&D policies and activities. This may deliver competence developing and managing international projects seeking for public funding and at the same time request for partnership from Baltic States. Participation of both components – new member states and other EU members – shall lead to the wider Baltic States presence in FP6/7. Various EU funded coordination actions and networks will also be presented in the event as facilitation instruments.

I. The main objectives: 

The main objectives of the both parallel events are to discuss important Information Society aspects (such as applications and services for the mobile user and worker, eInclusion, Internet governance, open development platforms for software and services, cross-media content for leisure and entertainment, improving Risk management, etc), to foster sharing of experience and best practices on how ICT is used in eGovernment, eHealth and other sectors, to initiate and develop valuable contacts and co-operation among leading industry companies and projects in the region, to demonstrate the newest ICT technologies and products, solutions and applications.

II. Benefits for the Conference and Workshop attendees: 

  • Information on ICT market and future development trends;
  • Outline of targets and challenges of the nearest future in the field of applications and services for the mobile user and worker, eInclusion, Internet governance, open development platforms for software and services, cross-media content for leisure and entertainment, improving Risk management,
  • Co-operation in public-private and cross-border projects in the Baltic Sea Region and Central and Eastern European Countries;
  • Development of expert and organizational networks for EU funds and programmes;
